Sworn translation of personal documents
in Verviers and across the whole district
Birth, marriage, residence, nationality, qualifications, vehicles: precisely the document the counter expects. Marriage, nationality, equivalence, a car imported from Germany: the right document at the first visit to the counter.

private clients & formalities: what we translate day to day
Textiles brought families here from Italy, Turkey and Morocco; a generation on, their civil status records still travel back and forth between two countries. The border adds formalities of its own: a marriage celebrated in Germany, a divorce pronounced in the Netherlands, a driving licence obtained elsewhere. Most of the people who ring us are already holding a list of documents.
Civil status
Birth, marriage, divorce, death, acknowledgement and family record books issued abroad.
Criminal record
The extract issued by your municipality, or its equivalent obtained abroad, for a job or for naturalisation.
Diplomas
Qualifications and transcripts to produce for a recognition application or for enrolment in Belgium.
Licences and vehicles
Driving licences issued outside Belgium, registration certificates and certificates of conformity for an imported vehicle.
Family and inheritance
Wills, attestations of inheritance, documents from an estate opened abroad and family reunification files.
Legalisation at the FPS Justice
We arrange the legalisation of the sworn translator's signature. An apostille demanded on top belongs to another department: we tell you which.
What the private clients & formalities sector demands here
Those who ring us usually hold a list of documents and a date already fixed. Our first job is to settle what is genuinely required: sworn or standard? signature to be legalised or not? an apostille demanded by the issuing country on the original? That depends as much on the counter as on the country, and a mistake at this stage costs a second trip.
Verviers owes part of its population to textiles: Italian families, then Turkish and Moroccan ones, came to work in the mills, and their birth and marriage certificates still travel between two countries a generation later. Add everything the border produces: marriages between a resident of Welkenraedt and someone living in Germany, cars bought across the border whose certificate of conformity has to be translated for registration, pensions paid from abroad, estates opened in Aachen or Maastricht.
No travel is needed: photograph your documents, that is enough to start the work, and the stamped copy reaches you by registered post. If your appointment is close, say so with the request: the express route delivers a sworn translation in 24 to 48 hours.
- Birth, marriage, divorce and death
- Criminal record and good conduct statement
- Degree and transcript for an equivalence application
- Driving licence and papers of an imported vehicle
The appointments that call for an interpreter
Some appointments give you no second attempt: you are better off walking in with someone who translates.
Municipality and welfare centre
Population desk, civil status, foreign nationals service, social interview: in Verviers as in the surrounding municipalities.
Marriage and cohabitation
Filing the dossier, the ceremony at the town hall and the declaration of legal cohabitation.
Residence and nationality
An interview about a residence permit, a family reunification or a nationality declaration.
Medical appointment
A consultation or a hospital stay, on site or by phone when the situation cannot wait.
Watch the spellings. A name transliterated from Arabic, Turkish or Cyrillic can be written two ways depending on the document, and the municipality sends the file back over a single letter. Always attach a Belgian identity document to your request: we align the translation on the spelling already held in the national register.
From your first message to the finished document
One project manager carries your private clients & formalities file, so you explain your situation only once.
- 01
A photo of the document is enough
Snap it with your phone; the framing hardly matters. For an interpreting assignment, give us the language, the date and the address.
- 02
The quote goes out within the hour
It states the amount, the delivery date and the format: sworn if an authority demands it, standard otherwise. No charge, no commitment.
- 03
The file goes to the right linguist
A translator who works with private clients & formalities vocabulary takes it on, then a reviser goes over the text before anything leaves us.
- 04
File delivered or interpreter on site
The file arrives by email; the stamped copy follows by registered post if the counter wants the original. The interpreter travels to you.
Is the counter asking for a translation you do not have?
Photograph the document and send it over. Within the hour you will know what is needed and by when.
Why entrust us with a private clients & formalities file
We tell you what is genuinely asked for
We read your list of documents before quoting. Sometimes a standard translation is enough where you were told a sworn version was needed, and the opposite happens too.
Nothing to print, nothing to deliver
A photo on the way out, a file on the way back, and the stamped copy by registered post if the counter insists on the original.
A specialist, not an all-rounder
A technical, medical or legal text never lands with a jack-of-all-trades, not even when the deadline is tight.
Confidentiality in writing
Everyone involved signs a confidentiality undertaking. Your files stay on European servers and disappear whenever you ask.
The figure stops moving
The number on the quote is the number on the invoice. Translation, revision and delivery are already in it; nothing is added along the way.
Travel with no mileage charge
Our interpreters drive to Verviers, Dison, Pepinster, Theux, Spa, Herve, Welkenraedt, Malmedy or Eupen at no extra cost for the journey.
Frequently asked questions
My record is in Turkish or Arabic: is that complicated?
Those are two of our most requested languages, a legacy of the families who arrived with the textile industry. The obstacle is not the text but the name: one vowel different between the passport and the translation, and the counter refuses the file. Attach a Belgian identity card to your message and we align the spellings on it.
Is a German or Dutch record any simpler?
Not always. A German marriage certificate or a Dutch judgment still has to go through a translator listed on the Belgian national register; a colleague's stamp from across the border is not systematically recognised here. We check that before we start.
What should you ask at the counter before ordering?
Four questions are enough: is a sworn translation required, must the translator's signature be legalised, is an apostille requested on the original document, does the original have to be attached? The answers vary from one department and one country to the next. If the wording escapes you, call us first.
Where do you start with family reunification?
Only have translated what appears on the list the authority gave you: civil status records, often a criminal record extract, sometimes proof of income. Nothing beyond that. Tell us when your appointment falls and we set the work around it, with the rush service if the date is tight.
